Catholic Church Governance

Serving the People of God – effective ecclesial governance

This workshop series explores the context of ecclesial governance in the Catholic Church (Dioceses, parishes and not-for-profit Church boards) and identifies the key governance responsibilities and how they align with theological and ecclesiological models as they are expressed in key Church documents. This series of workshops is particularly useful for Diocesan and parish Councils and the Trustees/Boards and councils of Public Juridic Persons.

Governance Lessons from St Francis and Pope Francis

This workshop draws on the tradition of St Francis’ understanding of the mission of the Church and the way Pope Francis takes up the challenge of Church governance in the post-Vatican II church. The workshop identifies the principles of effective governance and links them to the Franciscan ethos and Pope Francis’ exhortations such as Laudato Si and Gaudete et Exsultate with a view to distilling key operating principles for Catholic boards of governance.
